April 2025
In March, we received a very generous donation of two boxes of magnetic building tiles! Our older kiddos are thoroughly enjoying these new toys, and we thank the Gallagher family for their gracious gift! We still have two morning spots available (7:30 AM - 11:30 AM), and our director will advertise our summer availability via Facebook, our website, and the church bulletin board in early April. Some new additions to the facility will also be happening soon, including a permanent fence for the outside play area, security cameras, and a sign out front! Thank you for all of the continuous support and prayers for our childcare!
March 2025
In February, we were blessed to serve 2 infants, 8 toddlers, and 4 preschoolers. We have two morning spots left (7:30 AM - 11:30 AM) which include breakfast and plenty of playtime! Also in February, we were gifted several donations from our Amazon wishlist including art materials, cleaning supplies, a forehead thermometer, nap mats, and a parachute that the kids love playing with! We are so incredibly grateful for these donations and all the support given to our childcare. As for the food program, we are making progress by submitting the online application and are awaiting further approval from the Nebraska Department of Education (CACFP).
February 2025
In January, Grace Lutheran Childcare added two new staff members, making us a team of 6, and we are so grateful for their assistance! We still have morning spots available (7:30 AM - 11:30 AM), if you are interested or know someone who may be interested in morning childcare, please contact our director at gracechildcareneligh@gmail.com. Also in January, we received another donation for an Owlet for our infants. We are so thankful for this donation and to be a childcare partner with the Briggs and Barrett Project! Looking toward February, we are excited for Valentine's Day festivities and hope to make further progress with the food program.
January 2025
As we enter the new year, Grace Lutheran Childcare is blessed to serve 2 infants, 7 toddlers, and 4 preschoolers. In December, we were finally able to submit the first step to the Child and Adult Care Food Program application, and we hope to move forward smoothly with the application process.
Grace Lutheran Childcare is now advertising to fill morning spots (7:30 AM-11:30 AM). If you are interested or know someone who may be interested in morning childcare, please contact our director at gracechildcareneligh@gmail.com.
We have also created an Amazon wishlist to make our donation list more accessible. The items listed do not need to be new or directly from Amazon but are listed to get an idea of our needs. Thank you for all of your continued support and Happy New Year!
December 2024
Going into December, we are blessed to have 5 infants, 5 toddlers, and 3 preschoolers on our roster. In November, a temporary snow fence was installed behind our building so our kiddos can safely play outside. We will be closed on December 24th and 25th for the holiday season. If you are interested in donating to the childcare, we will be participating in the Giving/Ribbon Tree located at Grace Lutheran Church, and attached below is a small list of items we are in need of before the new year. Thank you so much for all of your support and generosity. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Grace Lutheran Childcare!
Nap mats (up to 4)
Small pillows for nap time
November 2024
Going into November, we have 5 infants, 4 toddlers, and 3 preschoolers on our roster which puts us at full capacity! In October, we enjoyed watching the homecoming parade and playing outside with the changing leaves. We had a Halloween party with fall crafts and snacks, and Miss Mollie represented Grace Lutheran Childcare at this year's Trunk or Treat. Regarding the food program, we are currently at a standstill while awaiting a letter from the IRS stating our nonprofit status. We hope to hear back soon and get back on track with the enrollment process. On a more exciting note, we are planning an open house for Sunday, November 3rd at 2-4 pm at our childcare location (101 E 8th St, Neligh NE, 68756). We will have cookies and refreshments and would love to see you there!
October 2024
In September, we have graciously been able to serve 4 infants, 3 toddlers, and 4 preschool-aged children! We have hired one new employee and are very grateful for her experience and dedication to our childcare. We have enjoyed visiting the Neligh Public Library on Fridays for story time and crafts. The childcare board has started working on the application to enroll our childcare in the Child and Adult Care Food Program and hopes this process will continue smoothly. We have also been blessed with an Owlet Dream Sock donation for our infant who is under 12 months of age, and are officially a childcare partner with the Briggs and Barrett Project!
September 2024
We have officially opened our doors and are licensed as Grace Lutheran Childcare! In August, we were able to set up at the Church of Christ with the help of volunteers and began serving children here on Monday, August 28th. We have four part-time employees with one employee working with Mollie (our director) each day. We have 11 children on our roster and are looking for one to two more to fill a full-time and a part-time spot (three days a week). Mollie has started the process to get on the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) and we hope to be on the program in September. It is so exciting to see how far we have come in just a few months, and we can’t wait to see how we grow!
August 2024
In our second month as Grace Lutheran Childcare, we have consistently filled our three spots with two full-time, and two part-time children. We are approved by the fire marshall and are awaiting our final inspection by DHHS on Monday the 19th to obtain our license! Many generous donations have been gifted to us to help fill our childcare, and we have begun setting up at the Church of Christ. We have conducted interviews for part-time staff, and are prepared to offer positions to four individuals. We have also been in contact with the Briggs and Barrett project in Norfolk about receiving Owlet Dream Socks for our infants. Our waiting list is full and we are excited to announce our opening date soon!
July 2024
It has officially been one month since the launch of Grace Lutheran Childcare! Our director Mollie Kimbrough has started caring for two children at Grace Lutheran Church and is looking forward to transferring to the Church of Christ on August 1st! We have applied for state licensing and are trucking along through this process to hopefully obtain our license soon. Once we have the license, we are prepared to serve 8 children and are looking to fill our part-time positions to care for up to 12 children. Our waiting list of children is filling up fast and we can’t wait to see our childcare grow and prosper!
